Panoptes Launcher

Your own home screen for the screen in your car, in the Panoptes style. It runs as a separate app next to the BYD home screen, or as your home screen if you want. It is optional and needs Panoptes.

What can the launcher do?

Pages with tiles

Battery and range, navigation, music, guard, clock and your apps at a glance. You can move and resize tiles.

Bar at the bottom

Home button, Panoptes, your favourite apps, climate, all apps and settings. Always in the same place.

Climate in the bar

Temperature and fan with plus and minus, plus on and off. On some cars it shows heating and cooling levels instead of degrees.

Comfort

Tap “Comfort: seats, steering wheel, defrost”: seat heating and seat ventilation for driver and passenger, steering wheel heating, recirculation or fresh air, defrost front and rear window. Only as far as your car reports it. If Panoptes cannot read a value, it does not guess.

Apps side by side

Spotify and other media apps open next to the launcher. If side by side is not possible, the app opens full screen.

Easy to set up

In the car while parked, in the Panoptes interface under “Set up launcher”, or on your PC in the EV Cockpit from 1.23.

How to install it

You need Panoptes in the car. You get the launcher straight from Panoptes, there is nothing to download yourself.

Open Panoptes. On the car screen: Apps & display → Display.
Install. In the “Panoptes Launcher” card, tap “Install and activate”. Without Wi-Fi, Panoptes asks first whether it may use mobile data.
Open. Afterwards the card shows “Open”. The launcher starts.
Updates. When there is a new version, the card shows “Update”. This also works via Telegram, your phone or the EV Cockpit, only if you allow it.

Installing and removing only work in the car, not remotely, and never while driving.

Back to the BYD screen

Home button. The house icon on the far left of the bar always leads back to the BYD home screen. It cannot be removed.
As home screen. From 0.1.38.7 there is a switch for this, off by default. If you switch it on, the launcher asks “Use Panoptes Launcher as home screen?”. With “Yes, keep” the Home key opens the launcher, with “No, back to BYD” everything stays as it was. Panoptes never switches anything by itself.
Remove. In Panoptes under Apps & display → Display, tap “Remove” in the “Panoptes Launcher” card. Your launcher layout is lost.

What does not work yet

Temperature control is not confirmed for every model. Fan and on/off still work.
Side by side does not work with every app; it then opens full screen.
If a value is missing, it shows a dash. It does not guess.

While driving: editing only works while parked (gear P). Video apps only start in P, unless you confirmed the notice “Verstanden, ich entscheide selbst” (I understand, I decide myself) in Panoptes.

Tested mainly on a BYD Dolphin Surf (DiLink 3). On other models some things may be missing or different.
